A WIN WOULD...

  • Be Virginia Tech's third ACC win of the season, marking a new best under Skiera.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Virginia Tech picked up a dramatic 14-13 win over No. 20 Duke in triple overtime last weekend, courtesy of two late goals from Maura O'Malley
  • With less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation, the Hokies were a player down as the Blue Devils were leading and possessing the ball. Kayla Frank caused a turnover that she then scooped up, passed on to Lizzie Lohrer for the clear, then Lohrer draws the 8-meter attempt with a foul. However, O'Malley ended up taking the free-position attempt since Lohrer was forced out of the game due to the foul.
  • O'Malley slotted home the attempt to force the game into OT then proceeded to be the hero in a third overtime frame, as well.
  • Other noteworthy performances included Sarah Gresham and Olivia Vergano's tag-team effort on the draw. Gresham stood strong next to Duke's Maddie Jenner and was able to push 14 draws in Vergano's direction.

  • Torres was also named to Inside Lacrosse's 20-player list of freshmen making an impact this season, per the outlet on March 24.
  • Through 12 games this season, the former top-25 recruit has a GAA of 10.28 and a save percentage of 46.3%.
  • The freshman is averaging 10.5 saves per game against ranked opponents, including 15 saves against then-No. 1 North Carolina and No. 12 Notre Dame.
