Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech swimming and diving team’s women’s squad has been named a Scholar All-America Team for the 2016 fall semester by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The H2Okies registered a 3.26 team GPA this past fall. The awards are in recognition of teams that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2016 fall semester.
“Our women were outstanding in the classroom last semester,” head coach Ned Skinner said. “Our academic coordinator, Mike Swanhart should be commended for his steady and determined work to support our ladies. We are proud of our student-athletes and the way they represent us.”
The women are coming off its 13th-straight top five finish at the ACC Championships last week. Tech surged past two top 25 teams on the final day in Notre Dame and Duke to place fifth with 739 team points. The H2Okies also saw two gold medal performances from sophomore Ashlynn Peters in the three meter and freshman Reka Gyorgy in the 400 IM.
