McFadden to compete at Midlands

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – Virginia Tech wrestling's redshirt senior David McFadden is set to compete at the 2019 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships in Hoffman Estates, Illinois on Sunday morning.
 
The tournament will start at 10:30 a.m. ET Sunday and can be streamed live on FloWrestling with live brackets and results available on FloArena. Session II will start at 8 p.m. Sunday and Sessions III and IV will start Monday at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.
 
The Midlands is considered to be the most prestigious and arguably the toughest in-season tournament. The tournament features 10 of the NWCA top 25 teams in the country.
 
McFadden will compete at 165 pounds at the Midlands. McFadden, ranked sixth by InterMat, could see eight others ranked at 165 pounds at the Midlands, including No. 2 Alex Marinelli and No. 3 Evan Wick.
 
After the dual with Chattanooga, McFadden now has 94 career wins. He is in sole possession of 15th on the Virginia Tech all-time wins list and is three wins behind current assistant coach Jared Haught for 14th.
 
The No. 5 Hokies will be back in action Jan. 3 at No. 24 Central Michigan. The dual is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
