Fishback, Ix earn All-American honors

BLACKSBURG— Two members of the Virginia Tech men's tennis 2020 recruiting class, Ryan Fishback and Alex Ix, were named All-Americans by the National High School Tennis All-American Foundation.

Fishback, who hails from Geneva, New York, is a five-star blue-chip prospect and is No. 1 in the latest TennisRPI weekly rankings. The Geneva High School senior is also considered third-ranked national recruit by Head recruiting, while first in both his region and state, and boasts a 13 UTR. Fishback was also named his class valedictorian and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Ix, a five-star recruit from central Virginia, is the third ranked player in the state, according to Head. He claims the No. 13 spot in the Mid-Atlantic region and the No. 65 spot nationally. Ix is a three-time doubles state champion, while his team claimed three state titles between 2017 and 2019. "Alex is a player I have been able to watch for many years. He's very talented, moves well and has tremendous grit," coach Jim Thompson noted.
