Milius to join Hokies

BLACKSBURG – After adding Morgan Overaitis from Michigan earlier this offseason, Virginia Tech softball brings in another transfer in Alexa Milius from Central Connecticut.

Milius will enroll for the fall semester and be eligible to compete for the Hokies for the 2020-21 season.

"I am thankful we're adding a player with Alexa's character to our program," head coach Pete D'Amour said. "It is clear that she has a level of grit and maturity that will fit in well with our team dynamic. She will provide catching depth and I believe she has the ability to be a high average hitter with plus power.

"It takes a leap of faith for a player to transfer without visiting their new 'home.' I am confident Alexa will love Blacksburg, Virginia and what we have going here."

Milius did not appear for the Blue Devils in their four games of the 2020 season, however, she was a force for the team as a freshman in 2019, playing both catcher and infield positions. The Thomaston, Connecticut native hit .374 with 18 runs batted in and was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team.

Prior to Central Connecticut, Milius was a four-time First Team All-Berkshire League selection for Thomaston High School. She was named to the All-State first team twice in her high school career and also earned Academic All-State honors. Milius is the all-time hits leader for Thomaston High School and was the school's Salutatorian for the Class of 2018.
