Virginia Tech men's golfers Connor Burgess, Drew Brockwell and Connor Johnson Jr., have been named to the 2020 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars team, as awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
This is the second wave of honorees by the GCAA this summer. The trio joins teammate Cameron Moore, who earned the honor during the first wave of honorees in mid-June. This is first time on the list for all four players.
Burgess, a rising senior from Lynchburg, Virginia, had a 72.46 stroke average this past season and was second on the team with eight rounds of par-or-better. He had two top 10 finishes, highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in the only event of the shortened spring season.
Brockwell, a rising junior from Chesterfield, Virginia, had 73.89 stroke average this past season. His best finish of the year was 31stat the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate to end the fall season.
Johnson, a rising junior from Richmond, Virginia, had a 74.22 stroke average this past season. He had his best showing of the season with a 13th-place finish at the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40% of the team's competitive rounds.
