Lewis set to play in USA Softball National Championship

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Virginia Tech softball assistant coach Mike Lewis will compete in the USA Softball Men's Major Fastpitch National Championship this weekend as a member of the Kegel Black Knights softball club.

"I'm really excited to get an opportunity to play at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City this weekend," Lewis said. "The renovations that have been made only solidifies the complex as one of the premier venues in the world. I look forward to working hard here at Tech in doing everything we can to get the Hokies back to Oklahoma City in the near future."

The 11-team, double-elimination tournament begins Thursday and will conclude with the national championship on Sunday. Lewis' Black Knights are scheduled to play in their first game Friday at 9 p.m. ET.

"Mike is one of a few Division I coaches playing in the USA Men's Major this weekend, the highest level of men's fastpitch in the country," Hokies head coach Pete D'Amour said. "We're looking forward to following him and his team this weekend."
