BLACKSBURG – After a weekend in which most of the Virginia Tech track and field squad took a rest from competition, the Hokies will look to return in force during the Doc Hale Elite Meet. Welcoming a host of talent to Rector Field House, the Hokies are set for one of the biggest meets this season with under a month until the ACC Championships.
The two-day meet will not be broadcast, however, live stats will be made available through Flash Results.
Nine schools will travel to Blacksburg, including seven ACC schools (Virginia, Duke, UNC, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Louisville, and Boston College), Tennessee, and Iowa State.
Tech Director of Track and Field Dave Cianelli, the reigning ACC Indoor Coach of the Year on the women's side, enters his 20th season in Blacksburg.

ATHLETES TO WATCH
Caitlan Tate, Patrick Forrest, and Jacory Patterson will all compete in the 400m for the first time this season. One major storyline to watch is the matchup between Patterson, the NCAA 300m record holder, and Brycen Spratling, the American record holder in the 500m. Patterson won the event at last year's Doc Hale Elite Meet and will look to measure himself against one of the best sprinters in the nation on Friday.
Tyson Jones enters the shot put once again, following his ACC-best 62' 10" (19.15m) throw in the Hokie Invitational. Competing against the athletes with the second and third best throws, Jones has his eyes set on reinforcing his claim as the best in the conference.
LAST TIME OUT
Coach Bob Phillips and the pole vault squads traveled to Clemson for the Bob Pollock Invitational last weekend while the rest of the team had a break from competition. Strong results came from Rachel Baxter, who notched her third win in a row with a 13' 9" (4.20m) vault, as well as a third-place finish on the men's side from Jacob Rice, who went 16' 0.75" (4.90m).
