AUGUSTA, Ga. — Mark Lawrence Jr. notched his second top-10 of the season to lead the Virginia Tech men's golf team at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, which concluded Sunday afternoon at Forest Hills Golf Club (par 72, 7,053 yards).

The graduate student from Richmond, Va., who was one of two Hokies to finish the 54-hole event under-par, signed for a 7-under 209 to tie for sixth. It was his best 54-hole ledger of the season, eclipsing the 6-under 210 he shot at the Oldfield Invitational. Lawrence, Jr. totaled a team-best 14 birdies for the tournament.

Connor Burgess was the other Hokie to finish in red figures, carding a 2-under 214 to tie for 21st. The senior torched Forest Hills during Saturday's second round, delivering a career-best, 7-under 65 for Tech.

The Hokies, who fired a season-best, 13-under 275 in their second round, finished eighth in the team standings. They combined for 57 birdies, which tied for fourth-most in the field. Tech added a couple eagles, as well, highlighted by Burgess' hole-out on the par-4 12th in Saturday's second round.

Third-ranked Oklahoma State rode the strength of a final-round, 18-under 270 to propel the Cowboys past overnight leader Pepperdine for the team title. Oklahoma State put together a 54-hole ledger of 37-under 827 to edge the Wave by two shots.

Tech continues its spring schedule next weekend at the Stitch Intercollegiate hosted by NC State. The 54-hole event will run Friday, April 9 through Saturday, April 10 at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, N.C.
