Lewis Named First Team All-Word by International Softball Congress

ELDRIDGE, IOWA – Virginia Tech softball assistant coach Mike Lewis was named First Team All-World by the International Softball Congress (ISC) this past weekend. The 2021 ISC World Tournament wrapped up this weekend, taking place in Eldridge, Iowa.

"We're extremely proud of Mike being recognized for his performance last week in the most prestigious tournament in Men's Softball, the ISC World Tournament," head coach Pete D'Amour said. "I take great pride in surrounding our players with knowledgeable coaches that have played at the highest level possible. Mike and Doug Gillis have done it on the main stage, the ISC and USA Softball Men's Major, we're fortunate to have them both teaching our young ladies."

Lewis, a player and the general manager for the Kegel Black Knights, led the Knights to a 3-2 record at the tournament and earned first team honors at the conclusion. He finished the weekend with five hits, including one home run and five RBI. Lewis posted a .357 batting average through five games with a 1.071 OPS.

The Kegel Black Knights also placed third at the 2021 USA Softball Men's Major Fast Pitch National Championship earlier this August.
