Women's golf signs two to the 2022-23 roster

BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech women's golf head coach Carol Robertson announced the signing of Morgan Ketchum and Symran Shah on Monday afternoon. The two golfers will join the Hokies in the fall of 2022.

High School: Four-year letter winner at Ronald Wilson Reagan High School … Conference champion her sophomore year … Got first place at the 2021 regionals both in spring and fall … 2021 State Champion in the fall, where she shot 65 in the final round coming back from an eight-stroke deficit after the first round … Her team won states in 2018 and 2021 (spring) and 2021 (fall) … Chose Tech over Notre Dame, UNC, Boston College, Furman, Charlotte, and UNC Wilmington

Junior/Amateur: In 2019, got first in the CGA 15 and under Girls Championship, was second in PKBGT National Peggy Kirk at Pine Needles Lodge & GC … In 2020, tied for second in the CGA Women's Amateur … Was first in the NC Junior Girls Championship … Second in the HJGT College Prep series at Vanderbilt … First in the PKBGT National Peggy Kirk at Pine Needles Lodge & GC … In 2021, tied for second in the SCJGA Beth Daniel Jr. Azalea … Tied for second in the CGA Twin State Championship …Won first in the PKBGT Open Championship at CC Salisbury … Placed second at the PKBGT National Orange Whip Classic at Walker Course Clemson … Tied for second in the South Carolina Women's Open … Got fourth at the Doral Publix Junior … Placed second at CGA Women's Amateur … Coached by Dianne Dailey and Brad Leubchow.

Personal: Morgan Ketchum … Born in Winston-Salem … Daughter of Tim and Tina Ketchum … Dad, Tim Ketchum, played baseball at Walsh University … Has one sibling, Andrew Ketchum … Wants to major in mathematics with an interest in doing actuarial work further down the line.

Personal: Symran Shah … Born in Carrollton, Texas … Daughter of Ravi and Chhaya Shah … One sister, Serena Shah who plays on the women's golf team for SMU…Serena was a two-time WGCA All-American Scholar in 2020 and 2021 … Planning on majoring in Business … Career objective is to attend the Pamplin School of Business and pursue her master's degree in healthcare administration … After graduation, she would like to work in healthcare industry and work towards a position as a CEO in a major regional Healthcare system.
