INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Virginia Tech's Keve Aluma was named to the United States Basketball Writers All-District III team on Wednesday, marking the second time the Berlin, Md. native has earned the honor.
As the Hokies prepare to enter their fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament, Aluma leads Tech in scoring, averaging 15.8 points per game while shooting 53.4% from the floor. Standing out as one of the country's more versatile big men, Aluma hauled in 6.5 boards per game and averaged nearly two assists through 35 games so far this season. The 6-foot-9 forward developed a 3-point shot since arriving at Virginia Tech and shot 33.3% from deep this season.
Aluma helped guide Virginia Tech to its first ACC Tournament title last Saturday, as the Hokies downed Duke, 82-67, in Brooklyn, N.Y. In Tech's four wins, Aluma averaged 19 points and 6.5 rebounds, including a double-double against Clemson and Duke, as he earned All-Tournament honors. These accomplishments join others that Aluma has already received this season, including an All-ACC second team nod and NABC All-District 2 second team recognition.
Aluma becomes the second Virginia Tech player since 2003-04 to be named to the All-District team twice, as Malcolm Delaney appeared on the team in 2009-10 and 2010-11.
