Hokies end regular season with 7-0 triumph over Boston College

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech concluded its regular season on Friday afternoon with a dominant showing against Boston College. The 7-0 win marked the Hokies' first shutout win of the year in conference play. 
 
Carlo Donato kicked off his Senior Day celebration alongside Matt Harper on Court 3 in doubles, as the two dismantled their opponents for a 6-1 win. In a ranked contest on Court 1, No. 19 Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback went down to a tiebreaker, but a decision wasn't needed. Scott Sculley and Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza locked up the doubles point with a 7-5 win on Court 2.
 
In singles, the Hokies controlled the tempo from start to finish. Donato and Shepheard took their first sets in rapid succession. The senior Donato was the first to extend Tech's lead with a 6-0, 6-2, capitalized with a match-winning ace. Shepheard followed suit with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph on Court 5. Hugo Maia picked up his first ACC win of the season with the clinching point on Court 3 – a 6-4, 6-0 clinic.
 
Ariza (Court 2), Fishback (Court 1) and Sculley (Court 6) were able to close out their matches to secure the sweep with all victories coming in straight sets.
 
Virginia Tech will return to play next week in Rome, Ga. in the ACC Men's Tennis Championship.
