Virginia Tech announces hiring of new HighTechs coach

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech announced the hiring of Ancheska Parchman as the head dance coach of the HighTechs.

Parchman previously served as the head dance coach for the University of Houston Downtown Gatorettes beginning in 2018. She simultaneously served as the head dance director for Thurgood Marshall High School and the Mystics Dance Team.

The Tyler, Texas native has gained over 17 years of experience in the field of dance. Parchman, or "Chess" as her peers call her, attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas. She assisted in many roles at Lon Morris, notably co-choreographing the competition routine that would then lead her team to its first collegiate competition in American Dance & Drill Team Nationals, where they earned a fifth-place finish.

Ancheska would then go on to join the Stephen F. Austin State University Jack Attack dance team in 2010. She was able to achieve great success in her two-year career on Jack Attack and was part of program history by competing in its first National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate Nationals and finishing her collegiate career with their first-ever first-place national championship title for Division I hip hop.

Following college, Ancheska has spent time traveling and choreographing for dance and cheerleading teams at all levels across Texas, including the NBA D-League. She has served as a dance teacher and director in many studios and public schools across Texas.

Ancheska is excited to bring her competitive drive and dance experience to the HighTechs dance team and to be a part of Virginia Tech.
