BLACKSBURG – Following its practice on Wednesday ahead of Miami (Fla.), Virginia Tech football met with the media for a press conference. Read below for what head coach Brent Pry and wide receiver Da'Wain Lofton had to say.
Head coach Brent Pry
On what he would like to see improved from the pass rush:
"We have got to be on the edges more. To me, we're too thick on guys. We got to make them move their foot. The whole thing with pass rush is getting those guys off balance. We're not doing that well enough right now."
On what teams have done well against Miami's quarterback Tyler Van Dyke:
"It's been some pressure and some coverage change up. People have gotten after him a little bit, but they're throwing it 50 times a game. But with them throwing it enough, it can make some things happen. They got a nice group of wideouts."
Wide receiver Da'Wain Lofton
On how good that touchdown at Pitt felt, his first of the season:
"It felt great. Specifically, just with helping the team in a positive way and getting that mojo going."
On the upcoming game against Miami and if he's looking forward to it:
"Yes sir. It's going to be our last time playing for a little while (with the open week ahead). So, hopefully, we get that dub and go out there and do what we need to do and start fast."
