BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men's tennis (8-12, 2-6) lost to No. 75 Michigan State (7-10, 0-3) on Saturday afternoon.
The start looked promising for Tech with Alberto Orso and Scott Sculley cruising to a 6-3 victory followed by Matt Harper and Frank Thompson on court three, 6-3, to put the Hokies ahead 1-0 going into singles. The win marked the first doubles point for Tech since March 17, against Duke.
Ryan Fishback kept the Hokies in the match with a beautiful shot down the line to win in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Hugo Maia looked poised to make a little birthday magic but was unable to finish of the second set, closing the match.
