LYNCHBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech women's golfer Becca DiNunzio carded a 6-under 210 to capture The Donna Andrews Invitational, which was contested Sunday-Tuesday at Boonsboro Country Club.
In all, three Hokies were competing and each finished in the top 25. In addition to DiNunzio's first-place performance, incoming first-year Emily Mathews took sixth at 1-under 215 while rising sophomore Morgan Ketchum tied for 25th at 11-over 227.
DiNunzio, who finished runner-up at this event in 2021, manufactured a final round, 3-under 69 to surge to the top of the standings. She made the turn on Tuesday at even-par 36 before rattling off four birdies in her first five holes on the back nine.
Mathews, a native of Mebane, N.C., won low junior honors at The Donna. Behind back-to-back red-figure rounds to open the tournament, Mathews was one of six golfers to finish the event under-par.
