BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech football team is back in the electrifying atmosphere of Lane Stadium, leading Pitt 21-7 heading into the second half.
With an exciting first half underway, quarterback Kyron Drones and wide receiver Da'Quan Felton have formed an incredible tandem. Felton had the longest reception of his Virginia Tech career, catching a 54-yard pass from Drones for the game's first touchdown. Dominating on the receiving end, Felton has four receptions in the books for a total of 81 yards. Running back Bhayshul Tuten closed out the first half with a 12-yard receiving touchdown.
The Hokies have also established an unassailable run game, with Drones scoring his third rushing touchdown of the season within the last two weeks. Finishing the second quarter, Drones also put up an 18-yard rush to conclude the first half. Tuten has gained 68 rushing yards in this game, including a 26-yard rush in the first quarter.
On the other side of the ball, Virginia Tech's formidable defense has held Pitt to 96 yards. Pitt quarterback Phil Jurkovec has only completed two out of nine passes, with both linebacker Alan Tisdale and cornerback Dorian Strong registering pass breakups. Tisdale is displaying his strength, tallying six total tackles, and defensive lineman Antwaun Powell-Ryland has two quarterback hurries.
