Hokies unveil 2024 lacrosse signing class

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech lacrosse head coach Kristen Skiera announced the Hokies' 2024 signing class on Friday.

 
"Our staff is so excited to have brought in these 10 ladies to join our Virginia Tech family," third-year head coach Kristen Skiera said of the additions. "Not only are they fantastic players that will greatly benefit our pursuit to bring championships to Blacksburg, but they're all incredible people that will fit right in with HokieNation."
 
MAGGIE FLANAGAN
Brookeville, Md.
Midfield
 
Flanagan joins Virginia Tech after attending Glenelg Country School, where she was an All-County player. While with Glenelg Country, the Brookeville, Md. native was part of the school's IAAM A Conference runner-up team in 2022. She played her club lacrosse with Hero's Green and achieved as high as a No. 8 national ranking while with the club. Flanagan, who plans to study Sports Media & Analytics, is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society.
 
KAMRYN HENSON
Howard County, Md.
Midfield
 
Henson will head to Blacksburg in 2024 and continue a pipeline of talent from Glenelg High School to Virginia Tech. A three-time county champ with Glenelg, Henson was named first-team All-County in 2023 and also is a highly-touted field hockey player. As a native of Howard County, Md., she's close friends with future teammates Isa and Jocelyn Torres, with whom she shared the field during their time at Glenelg. Henson plans to study Communications at Virginia Tech. 
 
MIA MAURER
Charlottesville, Va.
Attack
 
Maurer joins the Hokies a 2022 state champion and 2023 state runner-up with St. Anne's Belfield School. While with SAB, the attacker has been named first-team All-State and All-Conference. She plays her club lacrosse with the perennially nationally ranked Cav Lax Elite. Maurer plans on studying Fashion Merchandising & Design at Virginia Tech.
 
MAEVE OBRIST
Arlington, Va.
Goalie
 
Obrist comes to Virginia Tech after defending the cage for her school, Georgetown Visitation, and club team, Pride Lacrosse, and serving as team captain for both squads. While with Georgetown Visitation, she was named a 2023 USA Lacrosse All-American and part of its 2023 DCSAA champion squad. During her junior season, Obrist was named to the ISL All-Conference team. Off the field, she serves as the president of the Georgetown Visitation Athletic Association and One Love Club. Obrist plans to study exercise and health sciences at Tech.
 
ALLY PHALINES

Midfield/Defense
 
Phalines joins the Hokies after her high school career at Kingsway Regional, where she was part of the school's first sectional title in 2023. In her junior season, she led her team in goals (100), while being named the 2023 South Jersey Times Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year and first-team All-Conference. With experience in both the midfield and defense, Phalines was named to the ILWomen ID Experience All-Tournament Team for her performance at the event in 2022. A member of the National Honor Society, she plans to study Business at Virginia Tech.   
 
LULU RISHKO
Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Midfield 
 
Rishko comes to Virginia Tech as a 2023 USA Lacrosse All-American from Cape Henlopen High School. With Cape Henlopen, the midfielder finished state runner-ups in 2022, while also playing for the Eastern Shore Lacrosse Club. The midfielder will follow in the footsteps of her older sister, Ella, who was a 2023 ACC All-Freshman team with the Hokies. Rishko plans to study business at Virginia Tech.
 
ANNA TALBOT
McLean, Va.
Defense
 
Talbot brings a championship pedigree to the Hokies, as a 2021 Virginia Class 6 state champion and two-time Northern Region champion with Langley High School. The defender from northern Virginia was named second-team All-State in 2023, along with first-team All-District and All-Region. In her sophomore season, Talbot was named second-team All-District. An academic All-American that's a member of the National Honor Society, she plans to study Marketing Management at Virginia Tech.
 
SARAH THOMSON
Roanoke, Va.
Midfield
 
Thomson will make a short trek to join the Hokies from Hidden Valley High School in Roanoke. While with the Titans, the midfielder has twice been an All-Region honoree, while leading her team in ground balls, goals, points and draw controls in multiple seasons. Thomson has been part of two USA Lacrosse Virginia Team Division championship sides. A National Society of High School Scholars invitee and Beta Club member, Thomson is undecided on her college major.
 
SOPHIA TRAHAN
Pikesville, Md.
Attack
 
Trahan signs with the Hokies after playing school ball at McDonogh School and club lacrosse with Skywalker Lacrosse Club. While at McDonogh, the attacker was part of the school's 2022-23 IAAM Conference championship team. The attacker led her team in goals and was named All-Conferece during her junior season. An honor roll and Dean's List student, Trahan intends to study Business at Virginia Tech.
 
REESE WALLICH
New Market, Md.
Attack
 
Wallich joins Tech as a three-time regional champion with Linganore High School. While with Linganore, the attacker has been named first-team All-County three times and led her team in goals and assists the last two seasons. The New Market, Md. native plays her club ball with Hero's Lacrosse. As an honor roll student, Wallich plans to study Finance at Virginia Tech.
