Watson totals seven RBIs during Tech's 18-3 rout of Rams

BLACKSBURG, Va. --Senior Ben Watson racked up four hits to help power the Virginia Tech Hokies over the Rhode Island Rams 18-3 on Friday.

Freshman Brett Renfrow (2-0) got the win for Virginia Tech (3-2). The right-hander went five innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out five. Senior Grant Manning also pitched well, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out three.

In addition to his four hits, Watson had two doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBI to lead the Hokies. Sophomore Henry Cooke compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-1 with a home run, three walks and two RBI. Junior Carson DeMartini also chipped in for Virginia Tech, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a home run, a walk and an RBI.
