RALEIGH, N.C. – The Virginia Tech women's golf team placed second at the Wolfpack Match Play, which concluded Tuesday afternoon at Lonnie Poole Golf Course (par 72, 6,210 yards). The Hokies went 2-1, defeating host NC State and third-ranked Wake Forest before dropping a 3-2 decision to North Carolina in the championship match.

Tech opened the two-day event with a 3-1-1 result against the Wolfpack. Becca DiNunzio, Katherine Lemke and Morgan Ketchum each tallied 1-up victories to propel the Hokies into the semifinals. Monday afternoon, Tech replicated its morning success with yet another trio of 1-up wins, this time courtesy of DiNunzio, Emily Mathews and Valentine Delon. Delon's 15-foot birdie putt at the par-4 18th hole clinched the match for the Hokies, 3-2.

In the championship match, Delon and Ketchum delivered a pair of Tech wins but UNC was able to prevail in the end, 3-2.

The Hokies shift their focus to the ACC women's golf championship, April 18-21, at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, N.C.
