Keera Foocharoen makes cut at Meijer LPGA Classic

Former Tech standout becomes first alumna to compete on LPGA Tour

BELMONT, Mich. – Former Virginia Tech women's golfer Keera Foocharoen tied for 73rd with a 1-over 289 at the Meijer LPGA Classic, which concluded Sunday. It marked the first time a Hokie competed and made the cut at an LPGA event.

The four-day, 72-hole event was contested at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan. The Thailand native fired rounds of 71, 71, 70 and 77.

Lilia Vu (-16) won the Meijer LPGA Classic in a three-hole playoff. Playing for the first time since the Ford Championship in late March in Arizona, Vu beat Lexi Thompson and third-round leader Grace Kim with a 5-foot birdie putt on the third extra hole — the par-5 fourth. A former No. 1 player and double major winner last year, Vu won for the fifth time on the LPGA Tour.
