BLACKSBURG – On the heels of receiving its No. 24 national recruiting class ranking for the Class of 2025 per Perfect Game, the Virginia Tech baseball team and head coach John Szefc are proud to welcome four new freshmen position players to the program ahead of the 2026 season.
The Hokies are excited to welcome to campus infielders Ethan Ball (McLean, Virginia), Aimon Chandler (Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania) and Willie Hurt (Midlothian, Virginia) along with catcher CJ Oxendine (North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina).
Infielder / 6-1 / 195 / McLean, Va. / McLean High School
- Ranked as the nation’s No. 70 overall recruit and No. 29 overall shortstop by Perfect Game.
- Ranked as the No. 2 overall recruit and No. 1 shortstop from Virginia by Perfect Game.
- Named to the 2025 Perfect Game First Team Senior Preseason All-America Team.
- Batted .235 through 51 at-bats during the summer of 2025 with the Elizabethtown River Riders in the Appalachian League, recording 12 hits, four doubles, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
- Recognized by Perfect Game on 10 all-tournament teams.
- 2024 state champion in baseball at McLean High School.

- Ranked as the nation’s No. 108 overall outfielder by Perfect Game.

- Named to the 2025 Perfect Game Preseason Atlantic Region All-High School Senior Second Team.
- Four-year varsity letterwinner at La Salle College High School; batted .344 through 64 games played, totaling 56 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 44 RBIs and 40 runs scored.
- 2024 state runner-up in baseball at La Salle College.

- Batted .264 through 91 at-bats during the summer of 2025 with the Johnson City Doughboys in the Appalachian League, recording 24 hits, six doubles, a triple, a home run, 11 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
- Named to the 2025 Perfect Game Preseason Atlantic Region All-High School Senior Second Team.
- 2025 state semifinalist in baseball at St. Christopher's School.
Catcher / 6-1 / 195 / North Myrtle Beach, S.C. / North Myrtle Beach High School
- Ranked as the nation’s No. 96 overall catcher by Perfect Game.
- Ranked as the No. 21 overall recruit and No. 7 catcher from South Carolina by Perfect Game.
- Three-year varsity letterwinner at North Myrtle Beach High School; batted .396 through 169 at-bats, totaling 67 hits, 15 doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 41 RBIs and 61 runs scored.
- Named to the 2025 Perfect Game Preseason Atlantic Region All-High School Senior First Team.
