CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Forward Dagur Traustason was named the ACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Traustason, a freshman from Reykjavik, Iceland, carried the Virginia Tech offense, putting away all five goals during the last week of action for the Hokies.

In the 3-0 win over Longwood, the freshman tallied two first half scores, both off his head, before completing the hat-trick in the second half. It was the first hat-trick netted for the program since Oct. 1, 2019. Traustason kept the offense up in Tech's 2-0 win over Louisville to earn the Hokies their first ACC victory of the season. The Iceland native's head proved vital again to break the 0-0 deadlock in the 66th minute and then delivered the brace on a one-timer off the post and in at the 90th minute.

Traustason ranks second in the ACC and 12th nationally in game winning goals (3) and fifth in the conference and 33rd in the nation in total goals (6).

Virginia Tech, who is looking for a third straight shutout, will make their way down to Chapel Hill for a Sunday, Oct. 19 meeting with North Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. and the game will be shown nationally on ACCN.
