Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech hosts this year’s ITA Atlantic Regional Championships at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center from Thursday, Oct. 16, to Tuesday, Oct. 21.
The Hokies have all nine athletes competing in the competition.
Thursday, Oct. 16, Day 1:
Alston Myatt advanced to the singles main draw after two wins in qualifying. Myatt defeated Viktoria Lackova from VCU in the first round, 6-2, 7-6(0), and Mya Byrd from Old Dominion in the second round, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(7).

Friday, Oct. 17, Day 2:
Three Hokies advanced to the round of 32 in the singles main draw. Myatt and Waas also advanced to the round of 32 in doubles.
Özlem Uslu played her first match of the competition against Liya Chu of Georgetown. After falling 6-4 in the first set, Uslu bounced back from down 0-3 in the second set to win 7-5. She finished off the match with a 6-0 third set.
Laima Frosch won in straight sets over JMU, and Mila Mulready won a three-set match over Maryland.

Saturday, Oct. 18, Day 3:
Two Hokies advanced to the round of 16 in singles on Saturday morning. Myatt and Waas also advanced to the round of 16 in doubles.
Frosch and Uslu both won their singles matches on Saturday. Frosch defeated Alina Mokrynska of Marshall 6-3, 6-0, while Uslu found her win in three sets over Mary Bellia of Navy, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
Myatt and Waas won their first doubles match of the day over Martinez/Wai from Liberty, 8-5.

Sunday, Oct. 19, Day 4:
Uslu’s run to back-to-back ITA Atlantic Regional Championships ended in the quarterfinals, as she fell to Virginia’s Martina Genis Salas in three sets.
In her first match of the day, Uslu played Blair Gill of Virginia, winning 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 in the round of 16. Later that afternoon, she matched up with Genis Salas in the quarterfinals, dropping 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Laima Frosch fell in her round of 16 match against Maryland’s Oliwia Orlinska, 6-1, 6-4.
