George Couttie Leads Virginia Tech with Fourth-Place Finish at ACC Championships, Three Hokies Earn All-ACC Honors

George Couttie, Nicholas Kipchirchir, and Katie Bohlke Earn All-ACC Honors at ACC Championships

Louisville, Ky. – The Virginia Tech Cross Country Team competed at the ACC Cross Country Championships at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park, with the women’s squad finishing eighth and the men in fifth. Three Hokies earned All-ACC honors on Friday morning.

Women’s 6k
Katie Bohlke led the women’s team, finishing 21st overall with a time of 20:06.8 to secure her first All-ACC honor. In her Hokie debut, Faith Kipmaiyo was second for Virginia Tech, finishing 29th with a time of 20:13.0. Freshman Jule Lindner also made an impact, finishing 51st with a time of 20:21.1.

The rest of the Hokie women’s scores included: Lila Waters (21:02.2), Kylie Bosner (21:15.9), Kenza Elakari (21:20.4), Sophia Holgado (21:30.9), and Elizabeth Coe, who finished 85th, 98th, 105th, 112th, and 123rd, respectively.

Men’s 8k
On the men’s side, George Couttie made a statement with a season-best time of 22:54.4, finishing fourth overall to lead the Hokies and earn his second All-ACC honor. Nicholas Kipchirchir followed in 20th place with a time of 23:18.8, securing his first career All-ACC honor. Declan Rymer rounded out the top three for Virginia Tech, finishing 38th with a time of 23:42.7.

The rest of the Hokie men’s scores included: Cameron Davis (23:51.0), Garrett Winter (23:52.8), Ethan Coleman (24:00.6), Samuel Idens (24:03.8), Linus Chepkochei (24:08.7), Ryan Chevalier (24:10.4), and Carter Johnson (24:16.2), finishing 48th, 50th, 59th, 65th, 70th, 75th, and 81st, respectively.

Virginia Tech will return home for the Hokie Open on Nov. 7 at 3:00 PM ET at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course in Blacksburg, Va. The meet will also feature an Alumni Race.

Smithfield Commonwealth Clash
In men’s and women’s cross country, the Commonwealth Clash points are awarded to the team that finishes higher at the ACC Championships. The Cavaliers finished ahead of the Hokies in both the men’s and women’s races. The score for the Commonwealth Clash presented by Smithfield, currently is 4.5-0.5 in favor of Virginia.
