Flory Bierma joined the Virginia Tech Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) staff in January 2025 and currently serves as a Learning Specialist. In this role, she supports student-athletes who are facing academic challenges and are historically underserved through one-on-one academic instruction and by developing individualized academic support plans. Bierma works closely with her caseload of student-athletes to promote academic progress, confidence, and skill development tailored to each student’s needs.
Bierma earned her Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2022 and her Master of Science in Health and Kinesiology with a concentration in Health Promotion in 2024. During her time at Southeastern, she competed as a Division I student-athlete on the women’s tennis team.
Outside of her work in academic support, Bierma enjoys exploring new coffee shops, reading books, and playing tennis.
