Currently at Virginia Tech, Greg Jack assists with the development and training of All-American throwers, such as Sara Killinen. Notably, Sara Killinen is a five-time All-American, nine-time All-ACC performer and one-time ACC individual champion in the weight throw.
From 2022-2023, Jack designed and created stregnth and agility training programs for the Nike Elite Sprint Group based out of Fort Worth, Texas ahead of the 2023 World Championships in Budapest where Alexis Holmes broke the mixed 4x400m world record and Anna Cockrell collected the bronze in the 400m hurdles. Daliah Muhammad, the former 400m hurdles world record holder, was also coached by Jack in the Nike Elite Sprints Group and competed at the World Championships.
Outside of collegiate athletics, Jack owns and operates Track and Field Strategies LLC where he specializes in recruiting international and domestic student-athletes and provides workout programs designed for division I athletes.
From 2019-2021, Jack served as the assistant track & field coach at Florida State University where he coached and designed training programs for the throws event squad. During his time with the Seminoles, Jack coached two individuals to ACC titles and helped five individuals qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Prior to FSU, Jack was the assistant track & field coach at Cal State Northridge, leading four individuals to conference titles in his lone year with the program. Specifically, he led and designed the strength and conditioning programs for the complete track & field program.
Jack’s first stint at Virginia Tech began in 2001 as an assistant coach, a title that extended through the 2004 season. In the first four seasons, Jack coached one individual to the 2004 Olympic Games. Following that year, he was promoted to the associate men’s head coach and assistant women’s coach, holding those titles from 2004-2008. During his time in the two roles, Jack was selected as the 2006 USTFCCCA National Throws Coach of the Year and was the 2006 USTFCCCA East Regional Throws Coach of the Year. Following the 2008 season, Jack was promoted to associate head coach where he served until 2017. From 2004-2017 at Tech, Jack coached notable individuals like Dorotea Habazin, Spyridon Jullien, Marcel Lomnicky, Irena Sediva, Matthias Treff and Alexander Ziegler to national champion titles and ACC conference and championship records in the javelin, weight throw and hammer throw. Lomnicky still holds the ACC conference and championship records in the hammer throw (82.92m/272’0”). He collected seven women’s team championships and seven men’s team championships along with a combined eight top 20 finishes at the NCAA Championships, including a women’s program best-historical finish at NCAAs of fifth in 2010.
Greg Jack began his coaching career at the University of Pittsburg as an assistant coach from m1999-2001 and briefly served as the strength and conditioning coach for track & field, cross country, women’s tennis while assisting the wrestling and men’s and women’s basketball programs during the 2000-2001 academic year. As a coach, he developed the training programs for the throws and multis event squads.
Originally from Ottowa, Canada, Jack completed his Bachelor’s of Science in physical education at Florida State University in 1999.
