Responsibilities: Matthew Chung, DO, CAQSM, FAOASM, RMSK serves as a Team Physician for Virginia Tech Athletics, providing care across multiple varsity sports. In addition to his role with Athletics, he is an Associate Professor at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM), where he teaches medical students, residents, and Primary Care Sports Medicine fellows. Dr. Chung also serves as Program Director for the VCOM/HCA Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Virginia Tech. He also cares for patients at VCOM Sports & Osteopathic Medicine outpatient clinic.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Before joining Virginia Tech, Dr. Chung practiced at an orthopedic and sports medicine clinic in Cooperstown, New York. In addition to caring for patients in the clinic, he served as a team physician for four NCAA Division III institutions, providing sideline and training room coverage.

Personal: Originally from New York, Dr. Chung is proud to call Blacksburg home and is grateful to serve both the Virginia Tech and VCOM communities. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, supporting Hokie Athletics, and making memories with his family. He and his wife, Kristen, live in Blacksburg with their three children, Brody, Miles, and Avalyn.
