Savannah Gustafson, MS, RD

Performance Nutrition Fellow

Savannah Gustafson serves as the Olympic Sports Nutrition Fellow at Virginia Tech, where she works directly with the Virginia Tech Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs along with other Olympic team presence.

In her role, she supports student-athlete performance through comprehensive nutrition education and individualized counseling. As a member of the performance team, Gustafson provides body composition analysis, individualized hydration assessment, and contributes to sport-specific nutrition strategies to help athletes reach their peak potential.

In addition to her performance responsibilities, Gustafson manages day-to-day operations of the Nutrition Oasis, overseeing inventory and ordering, supervising student workers, and maintaining budget organization. She also leads Virginia Tech Sports Nutrition's social media presence and coordinates special initiatives, including the annual National Eating Disorder Awareness Week held each February.

Gustafson joined the Virginia Tech staff on July 1, 2024, after earning her RD credentials, master’s degree, and completing her dietetic internship at Texas Tech University in December 2023.

During her graduate studies, she served as a Student Assistant within the Texas Tech Sports Nutrition program, primarily supporting the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams.

Gustafson completed her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Texas Tech, where she gained hands-on experience managing the Red Raiders’ main Olympic fueling station.

Originally from Lubbock, Texas, Gustafson now resides in Blacksburg, Virginia.
