Associate Director
Responsibilities: Hozey oversees all aspects of the Learning Assistance Program at Virginia Tech Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS). Additionally, he works as a Learning Specialist, designing and implementing academic support plans for a caseload of historically underserved student-athletes.  Will works closely with the Services for Students with Disabilities office and the Counseling & Athletic Mental Performance office to ensure comprehensive academic support for student-athletes with education-impacting disabilities.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2016

At Virginia Tech: Has served, within VT SAASS, as Tutor Coordinator (2016-2019), Learning Specialist (2019-Present), and Learning Assistance Program Coordinator (2021-Present). Prior to Virginia Tech, Will held the role of Learning Assistant (2014-2016) at the University of South Carolina’s Dodie Anderson Academic Enrichment Center.

Education: University of South Carolina, 2010 (B.A. in Experimental Psychology & B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice), Virginia Tech, 2013 (M.A.Ed. in Educational Psychology)

Personal: A native of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Hozey lives in Blacksburg with his wife, Hilary, and their son, Henry. Outside of work, Will enjoys golfing, traveling to the Canadian Rockies, and listening to baseball on the radio.
