H2Okies travel to face rival Virginia as ranked teams collide

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech swimming & diving teams head up the road to take on in-state rival Virginia in a dual-meet in Charlottesville at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. On Friday, diving will begin at 1:30 p.m. and swimming will begin at 5 p.m. On Saturday, swimming will resume at 11 a.m.

Last weekend, the H2Okies picked up two wins against the Kentucky men and the Richmond women. The 12th-ranked men’s squad improved their record to 8-1 while the women’s team improved their record to 7-2.

In the H2Okies’ dominating win over Richmond where they won every event of the day, freshman Klaudia Nazieblo and sophomore Jessica Hespeler had impressive outings, winning three events apiece. For the men, seniors Morgan Latimer, Collin Higgins and Kyle Butts led the way, earning two wins each.

This weekend’s meet marks Virginia’s first competition since before the winter break, but the CSCAA national poll has the Wahoo men (1-3) at No. 21 and the women (2-1) at No. 6.
