Antonio Lopez Segura earned All-ACC honors to headline the performances by the Virginia Tech cross country teams at the 2020 ACC Cross Country Championships held Friday morning at WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
Lopez Segura paced the Tech men's team with his ninth-place finish, running the 8K course in a career-best time (for this distance) of 23 minutes, 29.3 seconds. He finished approximately 26 seconds behind Notre Dame's Yared Nuguse, who won with a time of 23:03.6.
Lopez Segura has finished in the top 15 of all three of the Hokies' meets this season, and he improved 21 spots from last year's 30th- place finish at the ACC Championships.
Osman Humeida and Ben Fleming also registered top-50 finishes for the Hokies. Humeida came in 47th with a time of 24:17.2, while Fleming was 49th with a time of 24:18.1.
Behind those three, the Hokies finished eighth in the team race with 222 points. Notre Dame won the team title with 40 points, followed by NC State and Wake Forest.
On the women's side, graduate transfer Reagan Bustamante paced the Hokies with a 39th-place finish. She ran the 6K course in a time of 21:04.0. Lindsey Butler gave the Hokies a second top-50 finisher when she came in 44th with a time of 21:10.3. NC State's Dominique Clairmonte won the race with a time of 19:55.1.
In the team competition, the Tech women finished in 11th place with 292 points. NC State won the team title with 47 points.
