Soundbites: Week 13 Press Conference (J.C. Price)

BLACKSBURG – Leading up to the Virginia game, interim head coach J.C. Price held a press conference on Monday. Read what he had to say below.

HEAD COACH J.C. PRICE

Opening Statement:
"I like to put the previous game to bed on Sunday so when we get back in on Monday, we can start on the next opponent and get our minds focused for the next week. We all know the importance of this week, the Commonwealth Cup game, what it means for our program. The Cup is in our possession and we owe it to our seniors to try to do our very best to win this game. We still have a chance to extend our season and we understand that coincides with a victory. The only way to get to a bowl game is to get a victory this weekend."

On who will start at quarterback at Virginia:
"We're going to decide what gives us the best chance to win like we did last week. Both Braxton [Burmeister] and Connor [Blumrick] did a lot of good things in the game. [Brad Cornelsen] and the offensive guys will determine that later."

On being a part of the Commonwealth Clash again:
"The biggest memory would be when I was here just the competitiveness of it. I went 2-2 as a player and it was strange scenario that I was actually 0-2 at home and won both games in Charlottesville so that was my four years as a player. As an alumnus, you always watched this game from afar. Whether I was at JMU or Marshall, I always made sure if had a chance to watch this game, I certainly watched it. I recorded it, I DVR'd it, I was constantly checking the score. This game is important, this game is important within our state not just football wise, it's important in recruiting. It's important to a lot of people, as it should be. It's a rivalry game. Every state has a rivalry game and this one is ours and it's important."

On the running game at Miami and how his involvement during the game was different:
"Our running game has been really productive the last four games. The guys up front have been doing a good job getting on blocks and whoever has carried the ball has been doing a great job and been productive. As the game went on, we thought that was our best shot to win the game. We'll do the same thing with UVA this week. As far as my schedule, yes, it was a little bit different how we went viewing the game. I just asked [Brad Cornelsen] what his thoughts were and he gave them to me. We'll adjust whatever we need to do to be successful at UVA."
