SPARKS, Md. – Sophomore attacker Olivia Vergano was named an All-American honorable mention by USA Lacrosse Magazine on Tuesday, cementing her name among the country's top performers in 2023.
Vergano, a native of West Babylon, N.Y., led the team in goals (50) and assists (15) in a stellar campaign for the Hokies. She was second on the team in draw controls (106) – just trailing freshman Sarah Gresham (111), who set the single-season program record for draw controls. Both attackers became the first Tech players to exceed 100 draw controls in a season, surpassing Tristan McGinley's mark of 96 in 2018.
Topping her 40-goal mark set in 2022, Vergano had 10 games with 3+ goals this season. She sits as one of four players in NCAA Divison I women's lacrosse with 50+ goals and 100+ draw controls this season.
In April, Vergano was named to the All-ACC second team. That honor marked her second conference recognition after being named to the league's All-Freshman team.
