Lincoln IV claims gold at USATF U20 Championships

TF: 2023 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships Results

EUGENE, Ore. – Virginia Tech freshman Judson Lincoln IV clinched the national championship in the 400m at the 2023 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships in Oregon on Sunday.

Lincoln IV came out the blocks controlling the race from start to finish crossing the line first with a personal-best time of 45.47. He advanced to the finals seeded first with a 45.53 in the first round on Saturday. 
 


Freshman Kenna Stimmel  placed third in the U20 pole vault clearing 4.20m (13' 9.25"). Stimmel placed eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a height of 4.30m (14' 1.25") earning First Team All-America honors. She was recently named VaSID Women's Field Athlete of the Year. 

Across the pond, freshmen Barbora Stejfova and Katrin Brzyszkowska claimed gold at the Czech U23 Championships on July 1- 2. Stejfova won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 56.81m (186' 4.5"). Brzyszkowska placed first in shot put with a distance of 16.22m (53' 2.75"). She also placed second in discus throwing 46.83m (153' 8"). 

Tech alum Neil Gourley won the men's 1500m at the UK Championships in Manchester, England on Sunday running a time of 3:46.16.
