BLACKSBURG – Tech drops Friday evening’s ACC matchup to No. 8 Stanford.

Despite playing tight games, the Hokies didn’t have enough to overcome the Cardinal. Tech narrowly lost the doubles point. No. 65 Matt Harper and Alberto Orso continued their doubles success with a 6-1 victory to open up the match. With the doubles score evened, down to Court No. 2, the Hokies dropped the point in a tiebreaker with a 6-7 (2-7) loss.

Looking to bounce back in singles, the Hokies put up a strong effort. But, Stanford grabbed wins on Courts No. 2, 1, and 4. Tech kept within striking distance, but wasn't able to round out sets. Orso won the second set of his match right before the Cardinal clinched the match, 4-0.
