BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech softball is ranked in all four of the preseason polls ahead of the start of the 2026 season.
The Hokies check in at No. 19 (NFCA/GoRout), No. 20 (D1 Softball), No. 21 (ESPN/USA Softball) and No. 24 (Softball America).
The Hokies finished the 2025 campaign at 43-13 – Tech’s third 40-win season in the past four years. Tech returns five All-ACC selections and three NFCA All-Region Mid-Atlantic honorees from last season.
Kylie Aldridge, Michelle Chatfield, Jordan Lynch and Zoe Yaeger return offensively as all four hit above .300 in 2025. All four were honored as All-ACC selections, with Chatfield a First Team honoree.
In the circle, Cassie Grizzard, Sophie Kleiman and Emma Mazzarone are back for the 2026 slate. The trio combined for 190.2 innings pitched, 186 strikeouts and 25 wins last season.
The Hokies open up the season at No. 12/14 South Carolina for the Gamecock Invitational, where Tech also faces Binghamton and Winthrop (Feb. 5-7).
