BOSTON – Nate Paris posted season and personal bests to finish second in the heptathlon and earn First Team All-ACC honors Friday on day two of the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the TRACK at New Balance.
Nate Paris continued his successful heptathlon campaign after finishing day one in first place, capping the competition with three personal-best performances on the final day. He opened with a second-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles, clocking 7.99 to score 984 points. He followed with a personal-best clearance of 4.50 meters (14' 9") in the pole vault to add 760 points. Paris closed out the competition in the 1,000 meters, placing fifth in a personal-best time of 2:45.51 for 813 points.
He totaled 5,821 points to secure second place overall and earn First Team All-ACC honors for the first time in his career.
In the men’s mile preliminary round, Nick Plant clocked 4:03.81, followed closely by Viktor Idhammar in 4:04.48, as both advanced to Saturday’s final scheduled for 12 p.m.
The Hokies continued their momentum in the men’s 800-meter preliminaries, placing three athletes into Saturday’s final at 1:50 p.m. Christian Jackson led the way with a season-best 1:47.95 to win his heat. Dylan DeCambre followed in 1:48.67, while Sam Idiens secured his spot with a 1:49.25 performance.
Janiya Johnson competed in the 60-meter preliminary, posting a personal-best time of 7.45. The mark moves her from ninth to eighth on the program’s all-time top-10 list.

The Hokies return Saturday at the TRACK at New Balance for the final day of competition, beginning with the men’s shot put at 11 a.m. ET.
