Job Responsibilities: Hunter is working directly with men’s soccer, wrestling, women’s tennis, men’s cheer, and track and field (field events). He will also assist in managing the Oasis fueling station alongside Sports Dietitian Molly Miller.
Joined VT Athletics Staff: July 2025
Prior to Virginia Tech: Hunter worked as a sports nutrition student intern during both his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Most recently, Hunter was working on contract as a Sports Dietitian with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He oversaw nutrition services for all Olympic combat and acrobatic sport athletes. Upon finishing his contract at the Olympic Training Center, he was accepted for the 2025 Gatorade Sports Nutrition Immersion Program (SNIP). This fellowship has brought him to Virginia Tech to work with Sports Nutrition Team under Clint Wattenberg for eight months.
Education: Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Health sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2023. Directly after, Hunter pursued his Master’s in Professional Studies in Dietetics, also at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He graduated with his Masters in December of 2024.
Of Note: Hunter has spent 11 years of his life wrestling, which has sparked a passion to help athletes in weight-sensitive sports. He works to utilize his skillset and experience to aid with athletes struggling to navigate nutrition.
Personal: Hunter loves to spend his free time training for endurance races. When he is not working hands on with athletes, he is typically out on the trails running and practicing the nutrition strategies he preaches.
