Fifth ranked Hokies return to action against George Mason

BLACKSBURG - The fifth-ranked Virginia Tech wrestling returns to action on Sunday, January 3, when they head out on the road to take on in-state foe George Mason in the RAC at 2 pm.

The Hokies are coming off a successful trip to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, earning a sixth place finish while only competing in seven of ten weight classes. Redshirt junior heavyweight Ty Walz brought home the program’s first championship at the event, racking up three bonus victories en route to a perfect 5-0 weekend. Junior Joey Dance picked up a second runner-up finish at the event, with Solomon Chishko (141 pounds, fifth place), Zack Zavatsky (184 pounds, third place), and Jared Haught (197, sixth place) all finishing on the podium.

Sunday’s match will be streamed at GoMason.com, where fans can pay for a daily pass to view the event and entrance to the event is free for Hokie wrestling fans in the Northern Virginia area.
