Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – After a weekend off, the Virginia Tech track & field team splits and travels to four different meets, beginning on Thursday and concluding on Saturday. The Hokies will compete at the Texas, Florida, and William & Mary’s Colonial Relays in addition to High Point’s VertKlasse Meeting.
The pole vaulters will begin competition for the Hokies at the Texas Relays. Erica Hjerpe will represent the women’s team on Friday morning while 2016 indoor all-Americans Deakin Volz and Torben Laidig highlight the men’s group.
Tech’s throwers and sprinters travel to Gainesville, Florida to take part in the Florida Relays. Reigning national champion javelin thrower Irena Sediva highlights the group as she will compete in her first meet of the season. Eight Hokies sprinters will compete on Friday alone beginning with the 100-meter hurdles on Friday.
Additionally, the Hokies’ distance runners will be at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia on Friday and Saturday. Indoor all-Americans Hanna Green and Thomas Curtin will compete in their first meets since earning their 2016 honors. Green will run in the 800 meters while Curtin will run the 10,000 meters.
Lastly, a portion of pole vaulters rounds out the group at High Point’s VertKlasse Meeting on Saturday.
The Hokies return to action at the Liberty Invitational, Georgia’s Spec Town Relays, and the Tennessee Relays next weekend on Friday and Saturday.
