Hokies set for Lady Paladin Invitational

BLACKSBURG – Following a week off from competition, the Virginia Tech women’s golf team travels to Greenville, South Carolina, this weekend to play in the Lady Paladin Invitational on Sept. 23-25.

The tournament, hosted by Furman University, will take place at the Furman University Golf Course (par 72, 6,313 yards). The three-day, 54-hole event will begin on Friday, Sept. 23, at 9 a.m., while Sunday’s competition starts at 8 a.m.

Coach Carol Robertson will lead Tech into the weekend, as senior Mary Kate Holanek, redshirt sophomore Amanda Hollandsworth, sophomores Anne Taylor Hough and Elizabeth Bose and freshman Jessica Spicer will compete for the Hokies. Freshman Kristin Hearp also will compete as an individual.

In addition to the Hokies and host Furman, the field includes 18 other competitors: Augusta, Daytona State, East Tennessee, Georgetown, Georgia State, Illinois, Kennesaw State, Maryland, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Ole Miss, Texas, Tulsa, UNC Wilmington and Wofford.

The Hokies are coming off a 15th-place performance at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, as Hollandsworth paced the Hokies and tied for 23rd overall.
