Hokie ClubSYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 15 Virginia Tech men’s soccer team (9-3-2) fall to ACC foe Syracuse University 1-0 on Friday night. Tech got their second ACC road loss to move to 2-3-1 in the conference.
The first 45 minutes were a tough defensive battle leaving the game scoreless. Syracuse seemed to find an offensive rhythm at the beginning of the match applying pressure on Tech’s backend. The Hokies’ defensive held their ground holding the Orange to six shots. Marcelo Acuna saw a few great chances for VT with one hitting the crossbar.
Tech and Syracuse began the second half much like they ended the first. The Orange added six shots to their total early on, but got on the board first with a goal from Sergio Camargo in the 64th minute. Ben Lundgaard’s six saves held Syracuse to one goal on the night.
The Hokies return home for a midweek clash against Charlotte on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Thompson Field.

-“I thought we fell off in the second half and that allowed them to get on top. We didn’t do a great job of keeping the ball which didn’t allow us to get deep into Syracuse’s end. Ben and the defense came up big all game holding their offense off.”
