The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team will travel to Pittsburgh on Thursday evening for their second game of conference play. The match against the Panthers kicks-off at 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The Hokies, 6-2-1 on the season and 0-1 in ACC action, fell at No. 4 Duke, 3-0, on Sunday. The first half was a defensive battle as the match remained scoreless until the 42nd minute, when Duke netted a penalty kick. The Blue Devils added two more goals in the second half.
The Panthers were defeated by No. 23 Wake Forest last Friday. Pitt enters the match on a four-game losing streak. Pitt is 3-4-2 overall this season and 0-1 in conference play.
The last time Tech played Pittsburgh was in 2015, a 4-2 win for the Hokies in Blacksburg. In the three previous meetings, Tech is 3-0 overall; two of which were shutouts.
Offensively, Alani Johnson and Allyson Brown continue to lead the Hokies with three goals each. With 23 goals, Johnson is ranked ninth in career goals and is tied for eighth in game-winning goals at Virginia Tech. Taylor Price, a redshirt junior, leads the Panthers offense with three goals this season.
