Hokies travel to Coral Gables for the Hurricane Invitational

The Virginia Tech women's golf team travels to the Sunshine State to compete in the Hurricane Invitational. The three-day event, hosted by the University of Miami, will be played at the par 72, 6,150-yard Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Florida, Monday through Wednesday.

The 45th-ranked Hokies and the 24th-ranked Hurricanes are the only ACC schools in the 13-team field. Sixteenth-ranked Oklahoma leads the field that includes a total of eight top 75 teams.

The Hokies will feature a slightly different line-up in their second event of the spring. Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia will play in the first spot for the Hokies. Mahar tied for fifth individually in the spring opener at the Moon Golf Invitational.

Amanda Hollandsworth is second for the Hokies. The redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia tied for eighth individually at the Moon Golf Invitational and is third on the team in stroke average.

Elizabeth Bose will play in the third position for Tech. The junior from Norfolk, Virginia, leads the team in stroke average this season and has a top five and two additional top 20 finishes for the Hokies. She finished 15th at the Moon Golf Invitational.

Jessica Spicer is fourth for the Hokies. The sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, finished 33rd at the Moon Golf Invitational and has started every event for Tech this season. Her twin sister, Sarah, a redshirt freshman, will make her debut at Virginia Tech in the fifth spot in the starting line-up at Miami.

The event, which begins with a practice round on Sunday, will feature 18 holes of competition on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Live stats will be available on Hokiesports.com, via a link from Golfstat.com.
