NEW ORLEANS – In the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the Virginia Tech track and field men fell out of the Top 25 and the women fell two spots to No. 21, announced on Monday afternoon.

The men were No. 12 last week before falling outside the Top 25 for the first time this season, while the women were preseason No. 20 and have fluctuated from 18-21.

The Hokies are one of only three schools to ranked on the women's side. Miami owns the top spot coming in at No. 15 and Florida State sits one spot above Tech at No. 20.

Last weekend, Tech put together five first-place finishes with being at four different meets in the states of Alabama, California and North Carolina. Distance runners Sarah Edwards (3,000-meter steeplechase), Sara Freix (5,000) and Rachel Pocratsky (800), pole vaulter Deakin Volz and discus thrower Lindsay Herra all took first in their respected events.

Tech's record book took a dent as eight times and marks from the past weekend were good enough to be in the top-10 all-time section.

With the ACC Outdoor Championships being in two weeks, the Hokies have two more meets left on their schedule. They will head to Arkansas for the Arkansas Invitational this Friday and Saturday and a midweek tilt at Liberty for the Liberty Twilight on May 2.
