Hokie ClubGREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech men's golfer Mark Lawrence Jr. has been selected to the 2017-18 Men's Golf All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team, as announced Thursday afternoon by the league office.
Lawrence, a junior from Richmond, Virginia, leads the Hokies in scoring average (71.20) and final round scoring average (69.90) this season. He is currently the all-time leader in scoring average at Virginia Tech. A semifinalist in the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship, Lawrence will make his second consecutive NCAA Regional appearance next week when he travels to Raleigh, North Carolina for the Raleigh Regional. This is his first time being selected to the All-ACC team.
Headlining the All-ACC Team are NC State's Stephen Franken, the ACC Player of the Year, and Florida State's John Pak, the ACC Freshman of the Year. Georgia Tech's Bruce Heppler garnered ACC Coach of the Year accolades.
The All-ACC Team, Player, and Freshman of the Year were decided by a combination of the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings in conjunction with a vote of the league's 12 head coaches, while the Coach of the Year was selected by a vote of the coaches.
Nine ACC programs are represented on the 15-member All-ACC Team, led by Georgia Tech with four golfers and Clemson with three.
