Virginia Tech men's golfer Mark Lawrence Jr., has been named to the Division I PING All-East Region team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. A total of 156 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2018.
The junior from Richmond, Virginia led the Hokies in scoring average this season at 71.45 and in Crunch Time scoring average at 70.27. He was selected to the 2018 All-ACC team in a vote by the league's coaches. This is the second consecutive season that Lawrence has been named to the All-East Region team. Lawrence was selected to compete in the NCAA regional for a second consecutive season, competing in the 2018 NCAA Raleigh Regional earlier this month.
Lawrence had a season-best fifth place finish at the season-opening Gopher Invitational in September. He added three additional top 10 finishes and four additional top 20 finishes this season. He had 22 rounds of par-or-better and nine rounds in the 60s this season, including three rounds of 66.
