BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech men's golfer Mark Lawrence Jr., has been named to the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association's All-State first team, in voting by the organization released on Tuesday.
Lawrence, a junior from Richmond, Virginia, makes the first team for the second consecutive season. He led the team in scoring average at 71.45 and in final round scoring average at 70.27. He was named to the 2018 All-ACC team and the 2018 All-East Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He was selected as an individual to compete in the 2018 NCAA Raleigh Regional.
Liberty University head men's golf coach Jeff Thomas was named Coach of the Year. Lawrence is joined on the first team by Ervin Chang and Mickey DeMorat of Liberty and Danny Walker and Thomas Walsh of Virginia. The second team consists of Gabe Lench and Isaiah Logue of Liberty, Myles Creighton of Radford, Ignacio Montero of James Madison and Ashton Poole of Virginia.
